Regency Glass partners with PPS to power next-generation manufacturing facility

Regency Glass, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of high‑performance insulating glass units, has partnered with Pennine Pneumatic Services Ltd (PPS) to deliver a state‑of‑the‑art compressed air system at its new flagship manufacturing facility in Warrington.

The collaboration comes at a key moment for Regency Glass following the launch of its Regency Triple® featuring Corning® Enlighten™ Glass, a breakthrough in glazing technology that delivers the performance of triple glazing within the size and weight profile of a traditional double‑glazed unit. Designed to overcome the handling and installation challenges typically associated with triple glazing, the innovation opens new high-performance opportunities across both refurbishment and new‑build sectors.

For Regency Glass, the product launch represents more than a technological advancement, it marks a strategic shift in capability. With significant investment in high‑precision production equipment, the company has positioned its new 420,000 sq. ft. Warrington facility as one of the most advanced insulating glass manufacturing sites in the UK, supporting growth ambitions and expanding capacity beyond its previous 110,000 sq. ft. base in Leigh.

Supporting a step change in production

Having previously worked with Regency Glass to enhance the efficiency of its compressed air systems at the Leigh site, PPS was selected to design and deliver a new system capable of supporting the demands of this next phase.

To ensure the new infrastructure would meet both current and future requirements, PPS carried out detailed data logging of the existing site over a seven‑day period. This analysis provided an accurate picture of airflow demand, pressure, and system cycling, which was then combined with specifications for the new manufacturing equipment to create a comprehensive compressed air demand profile.

Crucially, the system design also accounted for Regency Glass’s long‑term growth plans, ensuring scalability and performance as production capacity increases.

A future ready compressed air solution

The final specification included two Atlas Copco air compressors operating in a duty/standby configuration, managed by an Atlas Copco Equaliser Pro 4 controller.

The controller plays a key role in optimising system performance by equalising the wear on the compressors and ensuring output closely matches demand. With the capacity to manage up to eight compressors, it provides headroom for future expansion.

PPS also designed and installed a full compressed air ring main, ensuring consistency, quality, and efficient airflow throughout the site.

Commenting on the project, Paul Crooks, Chief Technical Officer at Regency Glass, said: “We have been extremely pleased with the service provided by PPS for our compressed air ring main and compressor installation. From the initial planning stages through to completion, they were professional, efficient, and very helpful throughout. The quality of the installation was excellent, and the work was completed quickly and to a very high standard.”

During the phased installation of production equipment at Warrington, PPS provided additional support via its hire fleet, supplying temporary compressors to enable commissioning activities without disruption, helping Regency Glass maintain momentum throughout the transition.

Efficiency, reliability and long-term value

The new compressed air system has been designed not only to meet immediate operational requirements but also to deliver long‑term efficiency and cost control. By incorporating energy‑efficient equipment and intelligent control systems, the solution minimises energy consumption while supporting consistent, reliable performance across the manufacturing process.

To further support operational continuity, Regency Glass has entered into a seven‑year Guardian service contract with PPS, providing fixed servicing costs, proactive maintenance, and rapid local support backed by Atlas Copco expertise.

The power for growth

The result is a compressed air system that is fully aligned with Regency Glass’s vision for the future, supporting advanced manufacturing, enabling innovation, and providing the scalability required for continued expansion.

As the UK glazing sector continues to evolve in response to energy efficiency demands and new building standards, the partnership between Regency Glass and PPS demonstrates how investment in infrastructure and technology can underpin both product innovation and operational excellence.
